Indira College of Commerce and Science, Pune hosted the 11th edition of its annual fest “Gusto”. This edition marked the beginning of a whole new decade of fun, frolic, pomp and show.
The fest was a three day affair involving a series of activities belonging to various categories. These categories included
– Management (treasure hunt, mock stock)
– Tangential (quizzes, collage and poster making)
– Cultural (DJ, Band War, Fashion show)
– IT (programming)
– Sports (Basketball, Cycle race)
The first day commenced with the inauguration ceremony where Dr. Tarita Shankar (Chairperson- IGI) and Prof. Chetan Wakalkar (Group Director – IGI) were the Guests of Honor. The ceremony began with the welcome address by our Principal Dr. Anjali Kalkar.
It also gave a glimpse of this year’s theme “Mythology” – a mixture of Indian, Egyptian and Greek with the help of three dance sequences each depicting the different mythologies followed by revealing of the Champion’s trophy amongst others.
This was followed by events like Cyclothon – the cycle race, Sports, IT gaming and Dance ‘o’ Mania-the solo dance competition. The first day came to an end with the highlight event of the day C’Phony – War of DJs.
The second day was fun filled with events like BB Chakravyuha- the Bollywood quiz, Surukshetra – solo singing competition, Dare to Think – IT Quiz, and Amun Quest -treasure hunt where participants had a jolly time mapping the campus to solve a kidnapping mystery through clues and tasks. The highlight of this day was ‘Apollo’s Gig’, the band war which saw various bands from across the State clashing with each other. This time we also welcomed “Elemental” the Bhopali growlers’ as the headliner band for the event.
The last day showcased two variant kinds of dance events- Feet Groove (Group Dance competition) and Junk-e-Junkies (street dance competition) followed by the highlight of the day “La Bella – Bellezze” the very popular fashion show. The participant groups represented mythologies in a unique and beautiful manner and the show came to an end with the college group depicting the entire journey of Gusto over the last decade.
The power packed three day fest finally concluded with the closing ceremony and prize distribution.
“A graduation ceremony is not only an event where students are dressed in identical caps and gowns but also a day on which they turn back and trace their steps to see how they ended up.”
The Graduation Day Ceremony of Indira College of Commerce and Science will be held on 10th March 2018.

As an industry academia interface SYBCA and MSc(Computer sci. ) Students visited Infosys campus at Hinjewadi Phase 2 Pune on 3rd Feb 2018. Special thanks to HR Infosys Mr Joseph for providing wonderful opportunity to ICCS students.
I-MUN 2017; Our first step into the world of diplomacy.
A two day conference addressing extremely sensitive global issues through debating and discussions leading to finding solutions that help change world perceptions, is what I-MUN comprises of.
(19th and 20th December 2017).
This year I-MUN hosted it’s sixth edition in a bigger, better and much magnificent manner where we welcomed participating delegates of about 150 countries. The event was regulated by our HOD and event adviser, Prof. Sonali Shrotri.
The first day of i-MUN started with a welcome note and introduction to I-MUN by our anchors Divya Khanna and Neha Vyas in Dhruv Auditorium followed by a women centric themed welcome dance.
This was followed by our principal, Dr Anjali Kalkar addressing the gathering and welcoming the dignitaries.
Professor Chetan Wakalkar, the group director of IGI along with all respected dignitaries, was invited for the badging of the Executive Board members and the USGs and Coordinators of committees following which he released the magazine of I-MUN 2017, “The Connaissance” and also enlightened everyone about the history of MUN. The opening ceremony came to a halt with the Secretary General of I-MUN, Vippin Babu declaring the I-MUN 2017 open.
All councils commenced with their discussions at 12 noon.
UNSC was headed by Samriddh Tilwani and Kaif Kutchwala addressing the maintenance of stability in the Korean penimsula, while the UNODC addressed drug trafficking and anti military financing networks and was headed by Shreshth Bansal and Moushmi Pardesi.
AIPPM had a constructive discussion on topics like GST and demonetization and was regulated by speakers Kapish Agarwal and Angad Dhupar.
UNESCO dealt with sustainable development in an effort to eradicate poverty by promoting education across the globe. It was regulated by Sakshi Uniyal and Rachit Singh.
The conference of first day ended at 6 pm and included addressing of the problems at a international level.
The second day saw a continuation in the discussion aiming mostly at solutions rather than addressing kg any additional issues. This day also held an informal press award session where the IP gave away goodies to delegates with the best smile, humor or behavior and way of debating.
As a conclusion to the conference all the councils conducted their press release.
The MUN conference proceeded it’s conclusion with the closing ceremony which began with an informal contemporary dance followed by a token of thanks given to the executive board members, usgs and coordinators of committees . All the board members felicitated their best and deserving delegates along with cash prizes.
The two day conference came to a halt with a vote of thanks by the Director Generals Priya Das and Manish Karjol.
First day of 6th National Conference and 4th student conference on computer science and applications.
A moment of pride and honor for Indira College of Commerce and science as Prof (Dr). Nitin Karmalkar , Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University graced the inaugural ceremony of 6th National Conference and 4th Student Conference on Recent Trends in Computer Science & Applications as Chief Guest on 22nd Dec, 2017.
Dr. Anjali Kalkar delivered the welcome speech. Energetic and encouraging sessions by Prof.Chetan Wakalkar, Group Director, IGI and Dr. Karmalkar ignited the minds of the young and budding researchers. The inaugural session ended with the “Vote of thanks” by Dr. Janardan Pawar. Dr. Apurva Desai , Professor from Veer Narmad South Gujrat University delivered an informative and interesting talk on “Natural Language Processing” . Day 2 will be more interesting as we have more speakers lined up.
Second day of 6th National Conference and 4th student conference on computer science and applications.
The day was marked by two enriching and fulfilling talk by eminent speakers Mr. Manu Zacharia the renowned certified ethical hacker and Prof.(Dr.) S. N. Deshmukh from Department of Computer Science and IT (BAMU University, Aurangabad). While Mr. Manu Zacharia spoke on “Web Application Security”, Dr. Deshmukh’s topic was “Social Media-Boon or Bane” .It was a memorable experience for the students with plenty of food for technical thought for the young minds.
The Valedictory function was opened by Chief Guest Mr. Swapnil Mahajan who is a technical lead in Quick Heal R & D department and an innovator. AV was shown highlighting the special moments of both days. Awards were given for first three winners for Student Conference (ANVESHAN) paper presentation. For National Conference paper presentation Awards were given for two categories, Computer Science and Computer Science Applications.
Blood Donation Campaign
Blood donation camp was arranged by Indira College of Commerce and Science, Tathwade, Pune on 05th December 2017 between 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM. The 156 personnel’s including faculties, non- teaching staff and students donated blood in this campaign.
Workshop on E-waste collection
Workshop on E waste collection was conducted on 10th December 2017. Mr. Milind Mehtere, Cummins company, Chinchwad, Mr. Vikas Patil, Chairman, ECA and Dr. Chandrashekhar Pawar, ICCS conducted brainstorming workshop for participants.
Avishkar Event- 2017- Dr. D.Y.Patil college, Akrudi, Pune.
Avishkar event was organized by Dr. D. Y.Patil College, Akrudi on 06 December 2017. Total 08 teams representing 14 students from different disciplines was participated in the project. One project got selected for SPPU level (Second level).
World Wide Fund for Nature campaign-
ICCS arranged workshop on WWF’s role in environment conservation. Mr. Gahininath and Mr. Pankaj Pareekh from WWF had carried discussion on nature conservation on 9th December 2017.
