Debate Competition

“A Good debate is aimed at the thoughtful conclusion acceptable to all not just winning the verbal dual.”

Debate, as considered as a verbal dual is actually a method of interactive and representational argument. Debate is a broader form of argument than battle of words. Students are full of ideas and arguments. They need a platform to channelize their energy and enthusiasm. It examines whether a conclusion is a consequence of thoughts, factual argument, rhetoric, which is a technique of persuasion.

Debate improves with knowledge and skills of its participants as debaters. The outcome of a contest may be decided by the quality of argument by judges which in combination of the two.

The Competition was held on 12th   January   2017 at Pharmacy Auditorium.

Subject for Debate:

  • Is Social Media destroying quality human interaction?

Subject for Elocution:

  • India’s performance at Rio Olympic !!.. Who is responsible?
  • Reform, Perform and Transform

* Prof. Pravin Davane, was the chief guest for the Debate & Elocution Competition.

* Competition was inaugurated by hands of Prof. Pravin Davane , Dr. Tarita Shankar and Prof. Chetan Wakalkar, Group Director, IGI.

* The judges for the competition were Prof. Shailesh Sonar, Prof. Priya Deshmuch, Prof. Dr. Gautami Pawar and Prof. Dinanath Patil.

* In all 80 college teams had participated this year for the competition.

Individual Prizes:

  • 1st Prize: Manya Singh (MIT College )
  • 2nd Prize: Hitika Gupt (Symboisis College)
  • 3rd Prize: Vishal Garge(IGBS College, Parandwadi)
  • Consolation Prize: Sidhanath Ghyawat(IGBS College, Parandwadi)

Elocution Completion:

  • 1st Prize: Vandana Kumari (Symboisis College, Pune)
  • 2nd Prize: Harshil Dhanvani (St. Vincent College, Pune)
  • 3rd Prize: Sunil Parale (Shivraj College, Kolhapur)
  • Consolation Prize: Rohit Chaugale (B.R.Gholap College, Sangvi)
